Meet your instructor

Hey, I’m Stephen.

I’m an American expat living in Berlin with my wife and two dogs, and I love building web apps—usually with Ruby—and writing about SQLite and Rails.

I’m a software engineer, engineering manager, and former philologist. My academic background includes a Masters in Classical Studies from the University of Pennsylvania, where I focused on Greek philosophy and Roman poetry.

I’ve contributed to Rails, the sqlite3-ruby gem, and maintain a handful of gems aimed at making Ruby and Rails the best environments for SQLite.
